Heartbroken

It is with very heavy hearts that we share with you the news that our sweet Susanna is now with Jesus.

We are heartbroken over the loss of our sweet girl. Words cannot describe how I longed to rock her in my arms, to cover her with a blanket and whisper to her that she was loved, she was home, and she was finally safe. How we longed to show her the world outside the walls of the crib that she had lived in 24 hours a day for 6 years.

My sweet husband's deepest fear is that she was alone and he desperately hopes that she was not afraid.

My friends, this is not how things should be! Children should not die needless deaths because they don't receive the right medical care. Sweet little girls should not live their lives without ever feeling the sun on their skin. Boys and girls should not be locked away because of needs that are considered "special". We are ALL fearfully and wonderfully made!

In Jesus' name and for the sake of sweet Susanna there is something that we ALL can do to change this!

Adopt.
Give to someone who is adopting.
Support someone who is in the process of adopting and continue to support them once they bring their children home.
Advocate for children in desperate need.

Adopt. Give. Support. Advocate.

The numbers are overwhelming. BUT if we all were to take the responsibility of caring for just ONE, then they would all be fed, clothed, given necessary medical care, and know they are valued and loved. Most importantly, they would have the opportunity to learn of the One True Hope. That they have a forever home with their Father in heaven who deeply loves them and longs for us to act on their behalf!

Sweet Susanna girl, we love you. We are so grateful that while we grieve the loss of our life with you, we can do so with hope, knowing that we WILL see you again! For now you are truly home, you are utterly safe, and you are so very completely loved!

  1. I have cried buckets since you wrote me. I am so very sorry for the loss of Susanna to all who knew of her and the family that was preparing for her homecoming. The grief is real. I pray God comforts you as only He can...and may He minister to your hearts with *hope* for the future!

I had longed for the day when I could hug Susanna myself {I'm telling ya' there was just something about her precious face and hydrocephalus that I was so smitten with her}. I am thankful that she is safe in the arms of Jesus, if she can't be in your arms.

Praying for your family as you grieve this very real and profound loss.
    WIth love, Linny

  2. I'm so very sorry.

You are in my prayers that God would be especially near to you. Words beyond that don't seem sufficient.

  10. Thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers. The consolation in the grief is that she is Home and that she was KNOWN by so many and LOVED and that the loss of her precious life is being grieved...... how I wanted to hold her in my arms!

  12. Dear Kristin, please know that we're hugging you & your family & also little Will in our prayers tonight. Something surfaced to me as I reread the story you wrote about Susanna & Will 2 months ago. Because she "took care" of Will, you were led to adopt him too. As you've mentioned, it was amazing how she could have lived that long without a surgery. I guess it's clear for us now that God has used sweet little girl to fulfill HIS PLAN to bring Will to your family. I think she had won her battle. Let's now continue our battle to bring Will & many more orphans to their forever families, while making sure they're getting the care they deserve whilst being in institutions.

    1. Andrea, we agree! God will give us the strength to come home with only one and Will's life is and will be a part of Susanna's legacy! One tiny little girl, who never left her crib continues to impact her world because she dared to love....even after all the pain she had known. It gives me courage to do the same and I join with you in saying......let's get them all home!!

  13. Though I do not know you, I've been following your blog, and I am sitting here in south central Pennsylvania crying over your loss. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child you never got to hold, to whisper in her ear and to pour out your love on. May God grant you the peace that only He can give and may HE bring people in your path who understand and can help you travel through this pain.

  14. Tears...

I know the pain and the joy at the same time. We never wish our children back from Jesus' arms, but a part of our arms will always ache until we are with them.

We received the same call about our Jonathan. It was the hardest call we ever received. Our son was gone.

We are praying for you as you celebrate and mourn at the same time. So thankful your precious daughter is with Jesus, and hurting that she is not in your arms.

    Praying....
